Bring your agent. Keep its boundaries.
The best agent for a task may already be in your stack.
The best agent for a task may already be in your stack.
That is the practical promise behind BYOA: Bring Your Own Agent. You keep using the runtime, model or workflow your team knows, and connect it to the place where the work is defined.
The important part of BYOA is not the word bring. It is the boundary.
An agent connected to a workspace should not receive a vague invitation to “help with the project”. It should receive a clear piece of work, the sources it is allowed to use and the tools that are enabled for that workspace. The team should be able to tell what happened when the result comes back.
A useful BYOA loop is small:
A person defines the work, expected result and relevant sources.
The connected agent receives the enabled context and tools.
The agent returns a result, a question or a blocked state.
A person reviews what came back and records the next decision.
This changes the conversation. Instead of asking only which model is best, the team can ask a more operational question: what should this agent be allowed to see and do for this piece of work?
That distinction matters because the agent runtime and the team’s operating context are different things. A model provider can change. A project’s decisions, sources and review rules should remain understandable to the people responsible for the outcome.
BYOA is not a badge for unlimited access. It is not a claim that every agent works with every tool. In BIKLABS, the available scope depends on the MCP connection, the tools exposed by the integration and the permissions configured for the workspace. Teams should start with a small, non-sensitive project and inspect the data path before connecting material that requires special handling.
The result is a more honest form of agentic work: bring the agent you trust, make its scope visible and keep the team in the decision loop.
Bring your agent. Keep its boundaries.
Demonstration content. Capability status, provider terms and retention paths must be checked for each integration.
